eChinaChem helped Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association of the United States (SOCMA) and American Chemical Society(ACS) organized a successful cocktail gala reception and business conference.

Madeleine Jacobs, CEO of ACS, Rudy Baum, editor-in-chief of C&EN, and Joseph Acker, President of SOCMA, together with more than 200 top global and Chinese chemical and pharmaceutical executives as well as China and USA’s senior government officials gathered at Portman Ritz Carlton Hotel Shanghai.

“Twenty years ago if someone had told me that I would be here in Shanghai today addressing a group of esteemed industry colleagues, I would not have believed them”, said Joe Acker in his welcome speech at the Gala Reception, “Well I can say from first hand experience that the days when a chemical company of any size thinking it could just get by with only clients and customers from its own country are over. Now companies not doing business in China or anywhere else in the world may risk being left behind.”

Chinese company executives enjoyed drinks in the relaxed setting of Gala Reception. For many of them, this is their first ever cocktail reception party. “I love this style of reception where we can freely communicate with global chemical company managers,” said Mr. Zhengwei Chen of Zhejiang Realsun Chemical Company, a SOCMA Chinese member, “it is very good this time American companies and organizations come to meet us and introduce them to us, right here in China! I hope there will be more such events in the future.”
